Some History
I purchased the Lotus in January 1991 in the UK partly restored. Robert Lovell-Butt, who at the time was working at Lanzante Engineering, restored the engine to my specification. It’s fabulous. My move to Poland delayed the restoration that was completed in 1997. In 2000 the car was transported to Mallorca and regularly used including many outings with the Classic Car Club. During this time Jan Feldtmann of Autoworksop maintained the Lotus. In 2008 the car was put on Spanish historic number plates. This was quite a performance given Lotus 7’s were never originally sold in Spain, but was necessary given the understandable interest in foreign registered cars by the authorities.
As the car wasn’t been used, about seven or eight years ago I lent it to a classic car enthusiast with a view it would be regularly driven. This was less successful than I hoped and the lack of use now shows. Having said this, it would not take too much effort to get the car looking much better.
It’s now time for someone else to enjoy and use the Lotus. My personal experience of many miles behind the wheel is that it’s perfect for the Island; I hope I can find a good home for her. I have a file full of receipts and correspondence that goes with the car. The Lotus is currently in Sant Elm. Asking £25K or nearest offer.
