British Jaguars and MGs visit Mallorca 10, 13 and 17 September 2014

Well, after a lot of planning, it looks as though the recent meetings at the Boat House on the 10th & 17th September were a great success!

The Jaguar meeting was the first to be held, and from what seems to be a record, we had on display 29 Jaguars covering many models. From a SS100, several XK 150’s including 3 “S” types, XK140’s, XK120 OTS, E type’s Series 1,2 & 3, XJS convertible, XJ6,  and several XK 8’s  a truly fantastic display!

Naturally the evening was swamped with members of the public looking at the fine array of classic Jaguars that were on display.

Next it was the turn of the MG club who on the evening of the 17th arrived with 16 cars and with our members contributing to the display enabled us to show 23 models. MGB’s were very evident including two V8’s, 3 MGA’s, many TF’s & a TC. Again the parking area was packed with people and the atmosphere was electric with so many stunning vehicles on display!

Naturally, the venue at The Boat House proved to be exceptional and with the warm evenings was probably the idyllic location to host the event.

Our thanks to Mark and his team for the great service we all received!

In between these two events, on the 13th, a Barbeque was also organized at the Linder Resort Hotel in Portals. Unfortunately, the attendance for this was limited to 100 persons, the main allocation going to the Jaguar and MG owners but we were able to secure 24 places, (even though that took the tally over 100) and I feel sure that those who attended, would have no doubts in confirm what a great evening it was.

Our thanks to Andrew Melly who organized the two trips over from the UK and also for for sponsoring the drinks on the evening.

From discussions that have since taken place, I feel very sure that this will be an annual event and also the prospect of other clubs coming to the Island looks almost certain.

Our thanks to all our members who attended with their cars and for helping to make the events a great success.
